Engineering Manager (f/m/d) Robotics Tooling

München
Full-time
Permanent employee

Your tasks

Your team owns the tooling ecosystem that enables deployment, operation, support, and continuous improvement of Jungheinrich Robotics solutions throughout their lifecycle. From commissioning a vehicle on-site to remotely diagnosing issues across an entire fleet, your team ensures that robotic systems can be delivered, operated, and supported efficiently at scale across all robotics products and future vehicle generations.

The team's mission spans three core domains:
  • Onsite Tooling, enabling efficient deployment, commissioning and service activities through our HMI and Environment Editor.
  • Remote Tooling, providing diagnostics, fleet management, monitoring and support capabilities as part of our Robotics Cloud.
  • Remote Access, ensuring secure and scalable access to robotic systems when required.
You will form a close collaboration with our Product Manager for Robotics Tooling. While the Product Manager focuses more on the What and Why, your task is to complement the picture with the How and When.

  • You own the technical direction for the tooling that enables rapid deployment, efficient servicing, fleet operations, remote diagnostics, and high system availability
  • You help shape a tooling ecosystem that scales across multiple robot families, customer installations, and support organizations
  • You lead and develop a team of internal and external software engineers, creating an environment where people can grow, perform, and deliver impactful solutions
  • You define, execute, track, and deliver the agreed roadmap in collaboration with the Product Manager
  • You build strong partnerships across Product Management, Vehicle Engineering, Service, Operations, and IT to deliver an integrated tooling ecosystem
  • You drive improvements to the experience of commissioning technicians, service technicians, support teams, and customers
  • You shape the strategy and implementation of secure remote access solutions, balancing operational efficiency, security, and customer requirements
  • You foster team excellence through engagement, coaching, career growth, and continuous improvement
  • You drive engineering excellence through agile practices, high-quality software delivery, and modern engineering standards

Requirements

  • You have proven experience leading software engineering teams in Agile product development environments
  • You bring a strong software engineering background with hands-on technical expertise
  • You have experience coaching engineers and supporting their growth and development
  • You have experience working in robotics, automation, embedded systems, or similar domains
  • You have experience developing frontend applications and user-facing software
  • You communicate effectively and can align diverse stakeholders around shared goals
  • You are passionate about solving real-world challenges through technology
  • The job is mostly done on-site, so ideally you live in/close to Munich
  • Nice to have:
    • Experience with Human-Machine Interfaces (HMI)
    • Knowledge of robot deployment, service, or operational workflows
    • Experience with monitoring, observability, or remote diagnostics solutions
    • Familiarity with networking, infrastructure, security, or remote access concepts
    • Experience working closely with customers or field operations teams
